The State of Relationship Between African American Men and Women


African Americans across the country are in a unique situation. Still bearing wounds of slavery, we often struggle to merely understand our individual roles regarding our unified purpose. Separation and disempowerment are tools used against us that left remnants, which have adversely affected the mindsets of Black heterosexual men and women.

Women suffer not just because of this, but also because of the issues that many men bring to the table. Rather than being loved and cherished, too often do women feel that they get involved with men, only to be cheated on or abused. These types of interactions become even less acceptable when children are involved; with whom the mothers are most often left to care for. Unfortunately, the result has created more disgruntled feelings toward Black men, coming from women and sometimes children as well.

There are a lot of lonely brothers out there who carry similar feelings that many sisters do, both negative and positive alike. There are just so many angry distractions between us most times, that we don't take time out to see things from both sides. My plea to you is that you look at both perspectives and come up with your own fair and equal interpretation and solution. We must do something now, and we can start right here with you and I...
